hi people.. i shall blog one last time before i head for church camp. Today has been an uneventful hectic day. First, i woke up late and went to church to help Daniel with the camp stuff.. It took quite long, and after that caleb and i went to orchard to get some stuff for me.. Saw my canoe partner sing yang with a chick and my another friend ben. My friends streaked their hair and dyed it man.. Woah.. They were buying stuff for my grad nite comin' on dec 4. Anyway.... I walked around orchard liked a freak and my legs were dying. First we went to metro paragon, then john lil', then to robinsons, then to john lil', then to heeren, then to wisma isetan, then to taka..... it was brutal to my legs man.. i wonder how girls can shop non-stop.. Must be the x chromosome preventing the legs from being that powerful like girls. ok i'm talking rubbish.. after all that shopping i went to some place in serangoon. it was a miracle i made it there. I was given only bare instructions, like the amazing race. I had to take mrt to serangoon, then take 105 from the interchange, count 6 stops and see a 7-11 before getting off. after which i was to walk into a condo and go to the club house. Quite amazing i accomplished that feat.. Anyway i don't know why i'm writing this. Must be cause i see pple's blog like that, narrating stuff, so i've been influenced. I think this is quite dumb, telling you my day's happenings. Anyway, tmr i'm having a camp, combined..... Don't know how to feel, it seems the other church is quite *idunno*, yea just pray that God will do the rest, well i mean he will.. Ok i'm going to eat twisties, pack my bag, and take 40 winks..

oh btw, i watched sleepin with the enemy yesterday. Boy was it Cool or what! What a classic thriller man, the suspense was crazy, i mean i watched to one point i muted the tv, and cried in desparation for my sis to join me upstairs to watch the show, which she gladly obliged..

oh and i learnt that RSVP means reply please, as SVP means sivu plait. Arh i don't know how to spell french. Yeah hope i'm right about that. Oh and WATCH LOVE ACTUALLY!! i've not watch it yet but based on my sister's comments, and the website which she showed me, and the trailers, it' looks goooooooood man... I must catch it after the church camp.

Right, Night.
God Bless

I'm utterly disgusted by our u-23's finishing. Ah mean..they were making school-boy mistakes man..ballooning the ball over the crossbar..wacking the ball right at the 'keeper.. They probably had 23940.62 golden opportunites, but ALL went begging. Goodness gracious. We need Agu. Where was the composure, man.. Ah mean, they are supposed to be Singapore's BEST strikers under the age of 23. I probably could have done better...

Despite my frustration, I would still like to salute the four very enterprising midfielders for creating opportunities for the forwards time and again..they never let their heads drop until the 90th minute. Displayed attacking flair, creativity under pressure, decent defending instinct..really uncharacteristic of Singaporean footballers.. Incisive crosses..just too bad the strikers didn't know how to use their heads too well.. Literally. But maybe they should have been a little more audacious..like slamming the ball home from outside the penalty-box instead of playing it to the off-form strikers..

Appalling defending from the back four. Where was the man-marking? Tend to crowd around the ball like pre-school kids, and in so doing leaving the opposite flank unattended. Had Myanmar taken full advantage of our errors..those mistakes would have proven REAL costly.. like..a 5-0 demolition maybe?

I would like to add that the scoreline is not a fair reflection of the game as a whole. After half an hour of football, Singapore seemed destined for a glorious victory. But well, a football game is a 90minute war, not a 30minute battle..

To end this entry on a lighter note, I would like to conclude that Singapore has brilliant midfielders with rich rich potential.

Greetings.

Well, I must indeed say Singapore soccer is very sad; I watched the last part of the Singapore-Myanmar game which we lost 2-0. Singapore had like one good chance a minute from the 69th to 73rd minutes, but Mohd. Ridhuan, Noh Alam Shah, Shahril Ishak and Co. showed finishing skills as good as mine.

Even funnier was the commentator who kept on lamenting about the sad state of our boys- "oh, why can't they stay on their feet?", "Where oh where was the support", "The Singapore fans... they're really disappointed" when the Singapore fans were actually smiling and waving to the camera.

Enough of soccer. have a great camp. Kai Min of the Th|ng guild... you can and will do a great job as camp commandant...

I'll see you guys on Monday or Tuesday.

good morning. decided to blog here since im bored doing the envelopes. hmmm. hurhur.

oh well. nothing to say. just that im feeling utterly disappointed at not being able to watch the man u vs chelsea match on sunday and am also still utterly disgusted with the new paper.

tts all. good bye.

p.s i know that the above post is simply rubbish and does not relate to the wildly dicussed topic below this post at all.

Tuesday, November 25, 2003

firstly, let me applaud Ivan for his great post, i would say it's highly trenchant and astute. You have shown very interesting and profound perceptions on the things you talk about. However, it gives me great displeasure to say that you have tainted your whole post with this line. i qoute ," i, too, admire your unstinting support for Liverpool, despite your regular weekly disappointment every Saturday!"
I find this very disturbing as it clearly shows you going one round and coming back to insult Liverpool. hAhaha.. however on second thoughts, it's irritatingly true. But never mind, Blackburn are doing very well indeed i should say, staying out of the relegation zone based on goal difference. I'm sure they'll be able to maintain their form and avoid relegation based on goal difference. Oh but alas, Arsenal have won 5-1! Shocking this, but hopefull they'll be able to slip up again and be condemned to the Uefa cup where i'm sure they'll be brushed aside by the mighty Reds.

Yea i think just a mirage is a cool title.. I don't know i just like the sound of it, it's quite insightful too..

Gabriel is leaving for the land of Australia tomorrow, and i should say i wish him all the best for his endeavours there, that he'll be able to adapt well to the place, find new friends and really have a good time knowing about the culture there. I'm sure he'll be terribly missed by all of us here, as he'll be gone for a heartbreaking 14 days(including travelling time). Do write back to us Gabriel when you're over there!!

oh as for me, after my piano lesson today, i trekked wearily to the vcd rental store only to find out it opens at 12. then i walked all the way to thomson plaza hoping to get a hair cut only to find it closed. Where are the Malays?!?# i hope that when i go back later they'll be there.. waiting for me with scissors in hand.

that's all from me..

david

Yes Ivan dawg, I agree.
I was referring to the Newpaper anyway. Not the Straits Times or Soccernet. Brenda can be my witness for that one..
My entry was merely a scribble of the many questions that burst into my head as a first reaction to the allegation..u know..splashing out my first-felt emotions onto the blog.. I was not penning down any well-analysed and thoroughly-thought-through verdicts on "the other side's credibility". If ya know what I'm sayin'.. But man, I enjoyed your (Ivan's) piece..

Hey David,

thanks for the support man! i, too, admire your unstinting support for Liverpool, despite your regular weekly disappointment every Saturday!

won't Jesus support Hapoel Tel-Aviv or Beta-Jerusalem or Maccabi-Haifa... after all Israel is God's chosen nation.

Ryan,

exactly what allegation are you referring to, man... I didn't find it on soccernet, and I didn't find it in the Straits Times.

But anyway, the allegation. do you think condemning the newspaper is different from declaring your support for man utd? Defending the defender, attacking the attacker, for all intents and purposes they are the same: to erode the other sides' credibility. but since I don't know the allegation that well I cannot attack Man U. See, I fight fair! But to your questions:

"Why must the stupid newpaper single out Christiano Ronaldo? Ronaldo definitely didn't initiate anything..I mean, the syringes were found in the dressing room and that tells us something."

He didn't initiate anything, but he did take the drugs. (according to you) the better question is why Postiga and Viana are not up there with him. the answer to THAT is because Ronaldo has more "celebrity appeal" than a misfiring Spurs striker or a benched Newcastle midfielder. Ronaldo has been in the papers for so many things: his brilliant debut at Bolton, his outrageous hair, his diving, and people are hungry for news about him. it's not a anti-man-u thing. it's about him being a celebrity. The thing is, more Man U players are true celebrities than those of any other club. that's why you think they are singled out more often. but if it was Eric Djemba-Djemba and the Cameroon team or Tim Howard with the Americans, there would be less outcry, because they aren't in the spotlight that often.

Makes sense, yeah? poor coach.

The S-League doesn't need controversies, it needs rivalries. Look at passionate rivalries in other leagues: Rangers-Celtic derby... . Northern Italian teams versus Roman teams... Man U vs. Blackburn... Real Madrid vs. Barcelona...

we have:

Woodlands vs. Sembawang... Home vs. SAFFC... East Singapore vs. West Singapore...

that's why the Malaysia Cup was good... had cross-Causeway rivalry, a rivalry which breeds passion and loyalty. S-League controversies can turn people off.. Home 10-0 Geylang... who wants to watch a farce?

apology for the long post. just a mirage is a good name... many things in life are just mirages. like Arsenal's hopes in the Champions League... just a mirage. As I think we will find out tomorrow morning. :P

oh well...another controversy in English football, boy English football is very messy now. MAybe the S-league should have some controversies as such to spice up the local football. Draw some fans and increase the sponsorships since so many clubs are closing down.

-Caleb-

Sunday, November 23, 2003

Oh dawg. Christiano Ronaldo. I dare not say the allegation's just a mirage. Haha...ok. Well, can someone explain to me why this blog is entitled "just a mirage"..

Now I bet Ivan, David and any other anti-manutd demonstrator is gonna taunt me online and offline. So I shall not attempt to extenuate the controversy, for fear that if I do, I'll only be inviting more "ManUtd Fans are Losers" entries into this blog. So, to my allies, namely Junxu... and...Junxu..let's not try to defend man u..or ronaldo. But I would like to take this opportunity to condemn the newpaper. Ok, I know the priority of newspapers is to attract readers but...

Why must the stupid newpaper single out Christiano Ronaldo? Ronaldo definitely didn't initiate anything..I mean, the syringes were found in the dressing room and that tells us something.
Why must it associate Ronaldo with Manchester United straight away? (the frontpage of the Sports section shows a picture of Ronaldo and the manutd emblem below him and the page background is red) Didn't he take the drugs with his Portuguese teammates?
Why didn't fellow starlets Postiga and Viana have their faces appear on the frontpage alongside Ronaldo's..or any other page..?

"They (the Portuguese Football Association) said the damage was caused by players throwing Joo Romo, the coach, against the roof, in celebration of their 4-1 victory on penalties", causing an "extensively damaged" changing room.
Intriguing.

-ryan-

oh, i would like to add some comments about the liverpool-middlesbrough stalemate. Firstly, it has come to me as a shock. I must say my heart was broken yesterday as my eyes caught sight of the striking 0-0 scoreline and the word full time beside it. ARGH. Liverpool lost again. but i still stick behind houllier because i know that the liverpool squad is brimming with quality. With a lil' bit momentum, i'm sure liverpool will be able to conjure up a winning streak. And on a final note, be it champions' league, no champions' league, relegation, Liverpool will always be the no. 1 club to me. You'll never walk alone. AWW Ye-air..
And to IVAN, i must say i admire your loyalty to blackburn and i take my hat of to you. For those pple who support clubs because " they're good" , and don't mind them "acting disappointed when they lose" , i can only say that your club can win a million games, but i won't ever respect such fans with this kind of mindset.
:P

oh and just a final thought: WWJS? Which would Jesus support? a club that doesn't care about the league cup? I don't think so..

david

hmm... i've come to the conclusion that this is probably one of the most trying years of my life, although it has been filled with blessings. i think next year will be a real challenge man, gonna have so much problems and stupid stuff.. but i next year is exciting too.. anyway, to all who ate the choco fudge, or milo fudge, whatever, it was the first time i tried to "make" something like a biscuit, or close to it. so yeah check it out. haha.

david

haha... our chocolate fudge is a big FAILURE... Junxu you never study your home econs hard enough.

great worship todae...

Recruit Chan... argh... I can't believe NS is in one month's time. And you have to rub it in.

-Ivan-

Saturday, November 22, 2003

Oh johnny boy! haha...had great fun today making those chocolate fudgies, laughing at RECRUIT CHAN! Holidays have never been so fun! Really lookign forward to greater days ahead and yes! Premiere League will be same again with MAn u winning de league and Arsenal runners up....

-Caleb-

An hour after the Manure-Blackburn match:

Hey man, it's alright that Blackburn lost... cos I mean, the best teams do lose once in a while, you know. And it was a good comeback, too, I'm sure Blackburn was fighting hard! And if Andy Cole wasn't suspended, well, I'm sure it'd have been a win!

On another note, David, how rude can you get when speaking so to a celebrity. Like the way you are in Gunbound. You behave like Alpay on a football pitch. especially to poor Jonnie boy.

I have to publicly apologise to Radius for publicly announcing that he tore my underwear.

-ryan-

ohh had soo much fun! anyway i'm not really sure what to say now... well, i got kicked in the shin, kicked in the ankle, and kicked my toe on the floor playing street soccer today. I'm in pain.
anyway, i conclude that junxu has gone back to his normal crappy self that i know of him when he was in sec 1. hAHAh... okok feelin' a little apprehensive of what to write.. think i'll just end here..

david

P.S : Andy, it's a criminal offence to hack into other's pple account, no matter what the intentions are. I believe you do not wanna further tarnish the name of english football after so many of the events which have took place like the rape cases.. i'm sure you do not want to see this on the front page of the daily mirror.

" ANDY COLE HACKS INTO TEENAGE BLOG. GIVES EXCUSE THAT HE WANTS TO THANK HIS #1 FAN, IVAN CHAN"

oh come now. I wasn't at David's place either. Was studying. And I'm sick of it. How do certain people *ahem* manage to study all the time?

Oh- and just to announce to the world- I am no longer A Mere Chick in Gunbound! Haha went to my friend's house to play GB after History today... with a paper tomorrow... I am well done.

-Ivan-

P.S. Hey Andy! Welcome to our blog! And yeah... Blackburn will thrash Man U on Saturday, that's for sure!

-Andy Cole-

hey Torn Underwear Dude,

you gotta identify yourself, if not everyone will be unclear as to who has got his underwear torn, no?

but of course there can be only one person who will have this sort of thing happening to him. So I guess it's alright.

-Ivan-

wow i feel as if our blog is a mild disaster. KAI MIN REDUCE THE SNOW FLAKES!!!!! argh..
haha... well i'm proud to annouce we've gotten Mr Ivan Chan, to join our blog, and he will certainly enrich the blog with his creative thoughts and profound writing. haha..
anyway i've one last paper tmr!! for pple like caleb and junxu, sure they've finished their papers, but when tmr comes, i'll be more elated than them.. this is in accordance with david's happiness theory that happiness is quantitative, only in exceptional cases, it's qualitative, such as happiness from love... haha like whatever.. So i'll be happier than a lot of pple tmr. yay.

david

Guess its high time for me to type something. yay! the o's are over! Poor david, still studying about hitler while im playing and wasting time infront of the computer, on this snow flaked screen. So, all you people there, have fun and until next time...... im FREE!

-junxu-

I shall publicly announce the fact that Radius tore my underwear.

-daniel-

Sunday, November 16, 2003

oh man i'm reading about Hitler that bloody asshole now.. He killed like 6 million Jews? like what the hell is his problem man. but as much as i hate Hitler, i hope he comes out for O levels!!! haha what an irony.. Oh and Winston Churchill's the man, i love his speeches, darn inspiring.. Ok enough about history..
